    Protecting the Environment in Ecuador

    The Social Sciences give us the tools to understand how we act with each other and how we relate to the world around us. These areas study our ways of life, our communities, and the big problems we face as a society.

    Today, the most important job is to protect the environment. In this unit, we will look at how everyday decisions and large-scale human activities affect nature. We will analyze why the Ecuadorian Amazon is so valuable, the dangers of natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, and the hidden harm caused by lost fishing nets in the ocean.

    Through practical projects, debates, and the study of real cases, you will learn to analyze problems and propose solutions that are fair and effective. You will also practice how to express your ideas in English, which will improve your academic skills and your awareness as a global citizen.

    Caring for nature is an environmental, social, cultural, and economic responsibility. Together, we will discover how we can be part of the solution and become the Ecuadorian leaders who protect our planet.

Protecting the Ecuadorian Amazon

Welcome in this seccion - Social Studies/Science 

This year, our focus will zoom in on one fundamental goal: Protecting the Ecuadorian Amazon. The Amazon rainforest is not just a global biodiversity treasure; it's an essential pillar for our ecosystem, our cultural heritage, and our national identity.

Throughout this course, we will uncover the complex social, ecological, financial, and political layers surrounding the Amazon. You will investigate the ancestral communities who live there, the serious challenges posed by deforestation and the overuse of resources, and the current initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and conservation in the region.

Using the Moodle platform, you will access dynamic content: interactive lessons, videos, key readings, challenging assignments, and assessments. This program is designed to sharpen your critical thinking, shape you into an active and responsible citizen, and build a deeper connection with the environmental issues facing Ecuador today.
